Move One part of massive US Army support contract award
American contractor Fluor has been awarded the contract to build and maintain up to 74 forward operating bases (FOBs) in northern Afghanistan. The so-called Task Order Five combines the two existing task orders (two and four) in Afghanistan into one contract worth up to $7.4bn. This dramatic increase in the number of FOBs being build comes as 21,000 extra US troops are being deployed in the county, mainly in the south, to combat Taliban insurgents.
Move One has been supporting Fluor on Logcap IV, as a subcontractor to Jarvis International, since November 2008 with regional surface and air transportation services for Task Orders Two and Four to build four FOBs in the North and eight FOBs in the south of the country. We have worked with them since 2005, supporting them on water and power generation projects in Iraq. This new contract represents a dramatic upscaling of our operations in Afghanistan and our largest contract to date.
