Where to rescue a dog from in Hungary

As relocation experts, we know very well that many expatriates like taking a memento home with them after their international assignments are over. What could be a better choice than a local dog? When it comes to making that choice, some soon-to-be owners rather pick young pups with strong pedigree from a known breeder, some people on the other hand feel, it’s best to visit the nearest dog shelter and take a neglected fur-ball home instead.
Should you make the latter choice, here are some shelters you can find in Budapest:
It Is run by the council of Budapest. The pound gathers stray dogs from the streets, then they wait 2 weeks for owners to claim their dogs. After that, the dogs are free to be either re-homed or after a certain period, put down. It is also possible to drop unwanted dogs there.
The following ones are charities, where no animals are ever killed. They often take dogs out of the Illatosut pound as well:

Mini shelter is a project of the NOÉ animal shelter foundation.
Although its name says dog shelter, at Rex, prospective human best friends can find cats, birds, rodents or even reptiles to adopt.
