Qatar: Immigration Bulletin – Changes in Visa Issuance on Arrival Postponed
A few weeks ago in Qatar, authorities announced that the visa regime amendment would go into effect in May, but this has been postponed now. Qatar intended to stop the issuance of visas on arrival at the Doha International Airport, but the policy change has been shelved.
Citizens of 33 countries, who currently do not need to apply for a visa in their home countries before entry to Qatar, would have been denied this privilege based on the new regulation which was to be implemented starting May 1.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry announced that the currently existing system will remain unchanged, therefore nationals of 33 countries, including the US and UK can still obtain a visa on arrival.
Visa policy can change very rapidly. It is not yet known whether the planned policy is delayed or scrapped permanently. Move One will continue to monitor the situation regarding immigration changes in Qatar.
