Pet TransportationMoving to a new country with your pet can be a hassle if you are not familiar with the complex rules and regulations governing the transportation of animals. It is highly recommended that you use a professional pet transportation service to avoid the many problems that can arise if transit is not handled properly.

At Move One, we provide top-notch pet transportation services and advise clients in our many locations on the requirements needed to import or export their beloved pet.

To make your relocation as hassle-free as possible, Move One profiles a country every month, providing an in-depth look at Relocation, Immigration, Moving and Pet Transportation issues, which could pose problems for expats. This month, we take a closer look at pet transport regulations in Qatar.

Import of Pets

Documents required to import a pet to Qatar:

  • Pet passport / vaccination history – including up-to-date vaccines (Rabies vaccination has to be less than one year old)
  • Health certificate endorsed by the government vet in the country of origin, not more than 10 days prior to arrival
  • Owner’s passport copy

NOTES:
There is no restriction on the number of pets that can be imported to Qatar by a single individual/private person. There are breeds, however, for which a special import permit must be obtained. The following dog breeds require at least 2 weeks notice and may be rejected:

  • Boxer
  • Bulldog
  • Rottweiler
  • Pug
  • Great Dane
  • Doberman
  • Shar Pei
  • Japanese Akita

Microchip is not required for pets coming to Qatar.

Export of Pets

Documents required to export a pet from Qatar:

  • Pet passport / vaccination history – including up-to-date vaccines
  • Health check-up followed by issued health certificate endorsed by the government vet, not more than 10 days prior to departure
  • Owner’s passport copy

NOTES
There is no restriction on the number of pets that can be exported out of Qatar by a single individual/private person.
