Slovakia: Immigration Bulletin – Latest immigration changes in Slovakia
The Slovak immigration situation has not changed significantly since the 1st of January 2014 when the Act No. 404/2011 on Residence of Aliens and Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts came into force. However, there are some practical tips and hints that can make the procedure of Residence Permit Application submission easier. This Article mainly addresses the third countries nationals.
- The provision § 32 Article 6 of the Act has changed significantly in comparison to the previous one. A bank account record is not required for submission of the application for granting of Temporary Residence any longer. A Bank Account balance statement or an Employer´s Confirmation stating the agreed salary is a sufficient document for the Foreign Police Office proving the Applicant´s credibility.
- Accommodation confirmation has to be submitted to the Foreign Police Office in a form of an Affidavit signed by Landlord/s in front of the Notary Public. The Accommodation Confirmation from the hotels is not accepted by the Police anymore especially when it carries the name “Reservation confirmation”. In case the transferee really resides in a hotel, the hotel management must be able to print out the Hotel accommodation confirmation on the hotel letter-head paper which will be stamped and signed in blue ink.
- The first application for a Non-EU national who is on a foreign payroll (on assignment) must be complete from the very beginning, including the Affidavit (Accommodation Confirmation) signed by Landlord/s (i.e. property owner/s). Otherwise their Application form will be rejected. In case of a Slovak (local) payroll the documents can be submitted later, however the purpose of stay must be clear and presented at the initial application submission ( family union, marriage or birth certificate, employment- employment contract or employment confirmation).
