Hungary: Curiosity – Simplified Immigration Process for Short-term Assignment

The procedure for legalizing work and stay for up to 90 days takes less time to be completed

hungary budapestA short-term work permit may be an option for non-EU foreigners intending to work in Hungary for a period of less than 90 days while remaining on a foreign payroll.

Short-term work permits are issued to non-EU nationals based on the host company’s request. The application package must include a letter from the sending company stating that the foreign employee is being sent to the host company for a short-term assignment of less than 90 days.‎

As the Hungarian Immigration office does not issue residence permits for less than 90 days, foreigners with short-term work permits do not need to obtain a residence permit to Hungary. Instead they may work on the basis of a short stay work visa which is also valid for 90 days and allows multiple entry into Hungary during its validity.

Visitors should note that the visa must be issued for the purpose of work, not business.
