On a recent critical humanitarian aid project in Africa, we purchased 𝟑𝟎𝟎+ 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 and chartered a vessel—but one challenge stood out: 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐩 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩. Why?

✔️ 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 – In conflict zones or disaster-stricken areas, it’s crucial that aid shipments are clearly identifiable.

✔️ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – While goods are packed in shipping containers, many have holes from years of wear and tear, making them vulnerable to rain and sea spray.

The mission: find a printer (the 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚)—𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲—to produce a 𝟑𝟔 𝐱 𝟐𝟒-𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝟏𝟏𝟖 𝐱 𝟕𝟖 𝐟𝐭) 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐩, 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐤𝐠 (𝟔𝟔𝟏 𝐥𝐛𝐬), in just 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬.

Once printed, our team 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐬 from Nairobi to Mombasa, ensuring it reached the port 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. With only hours to spare, we coordinated 𝟖 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 to secure it onto the barge.
